Hall County planning commissioner Stan Hunt, one of three planning board members charged with violating the state’s Open Meetings law, has taken to social media to defend himself against the charges.
HERE IS HIS POST TAKEN DIRECTLY FROM FACEBOOK:
“There’s been a lot of noise over the past several weeks. Unfortunately, this is politics at its worst. This is the kind of stuff you expect from Washington and Hollywood, not here at home. Despite years of service on the Planning Commission without a single complaint, long-standing routines have suddenly become a scandal. I’ve taken my job as a Planning Commissioner seriously, just like I’ll do when I’m elected to the County Commission. I did exactly what a Planning Commissioner is supposed to do… plan. I never broke the law. Period.
“Growing up in Hall County taught me that when things get tough you don’t run, you dig in. That’s why I started my business here, raised my family here, and have invested years of service to this community.
“Let me be clear— I am running for Hall County Commission.
“I’m not running for County Commission to validate myself. I’m not running for County Commission for a title. I’m running to work for District Three and all the families like mine that call it home.
“The people of Hall County deserve honest leadership who will serve with integrity and with respect for their fellow neighbors. That’s the person I strive to be every day. That is the County Commissioner I will be.”
Hunt’s post Friday followed by two days a public hearing into the charges against him and fellow commissioners Chris Braswell and Frank Sosebee. The hearing officer promised decision by early January.
