Plans for multi-use development on Jesse Jewell may be put on hold again

Plans for a multi-story, multi-use development on a long-vacant site on Jesse Jewell Parkway are again scheduled to be heard by the Gainesville Planning & Appeals Board. This time on Sept. 14. However, that hearing might be put on hold again so the applicant can apply for Tax Allocation District (TAD) funds.

The matter was previously tabled at the board’s July 11 meeting. Now Simpatico Communities has
asked again for the item to be tabled, this time until the board’s Oct. 10 meeting.

Plans call for rezoning the tract for a five-story building consisting of “office, living hospitality, restaurant/bar and residential uses.” The property is the site where L&K Cafeteria, an oil change shop, and apartments were once located at Jesse Jewell and Scotland Avenue.
