Flowery Branch and the city’s partner in the redevelopment of downtown or Old Town, Parkside Partners, appear ready to take the next step in that direction – the adoption of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between the two.
The proposal will be presented to the city council when it meets Thursday night.
As outlined before, the plans are to create walkable, mixed-use developments within Old Town. Phase I has been completed, and city officials say Phase II will begin with this MOU. Over time, the City has acquired certain properties near Downtown for municipal or redevelopment purposes.
Parkside Partners has expressed an interest in exploring the possible acquisition of
development rights to one or more of the city-owned parcels for constructing one or more
projects containing retail, office, or residential components. The MOU would provide Parkside with the exclusive right to develop the project in one or more phases.
