“On April 16th (units from the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office) responded to a home on Mountclaire Drive for a house that had been burglarized and ransacked. The burglary occurred earlier in the day between 11:45am and 5:20pm, while the homeowners were out.

Deputies were able to get information from neighbors about a suspicious vehicle that could have been involved in the burglary. The car was believed to be a black SUV with an out of state tag. Through the course of the investigation, officers were able to identify the car as a black Jeep Grand Cherokee with an expired tag that belonged to a different car. That car was seen on cameras and by witnesses in front of the victim’s home during the times the burglary occurred.

As investigators dug deeper into this case, they were able to capture the Jeep with the tag that was registered to it. The tag was out of Pennsylvania. The car was seen at a hotel in Duluth.

Detectives went to the hotel in hopes of identifying the suspect. The suspect was identified as Fernando Buritica Rocha of Reading, Pennsylvania. The Jeep was wanted nationally as a felony vehicle and detectives obtained arrest warrants for Rocha for first degree burglary and criminal damage to property and a nationwide lookout was posted for him.

On April 30th Reading, Pennsylvania Police called the detective on the case informing him that Rocha was taken into custody as he pulled into his driveway in the same vehicle used in the Forsyth County burglary.”

EDITOR’S NOTE: No information was immediately available on the South American theft gang and Rocha’s alleged involvement with it.
