A wildfire is burning on Peeples Lake Road in northwest Georgia on the Chattahoochee National Forest – and today’s another High Fire Danger Day for much of north and central Georgia including Hall and surrounding counties.
The U.S. Forest Service (USFS) is leading the effort to contain the northwest Georgia blaze with help from the Georgia Forestry Commission (GFC).
According to the Fire Danger Alert, relative humidities are expected to fall below 20% this afternoon, with northwest winds at 5–10 mph and vegetation is very dry. “Under these conditions, any fire can spread quickly. Outdoor burning is strongly discouraged today.”
