The truck was improperly loaded, according to the Georgia State Patrol, and that caused the wreck.
Troopers says the truck was making a left turn from Barrett Road onto Athens Highway Monday morning at the time of the accident.
“The load shifted and caused the tractor-trailer to overturn,” according to the preliminary report on the accident, which occurred about 6:00. The right lane of Athens Highway was blocked for about three hours, snarling rush-hour traffic.
