One of two suspects who led a state trooper on a high-speed chase on I-985 a few days ago remained at large early Wednesday afternoon.
STATE PATROL NARRATIVE :
“On January 26th, 2025, at approximately 5:19 pm, a Trooper observed a blue Ford Mustang and a yellow Chevrolet Camaro racing on I-985 northbound at Mile Marker 8 (SR 347/Friendship Rd/Lanier Islands Pkwy). The vehicles went from 89 to 124 miles per hour when the trooper activated his emergency equipment and attempted to conduct a traffic stop. Both vehicles then began weaving through traffic, turned off their headlights, and passed vehicles in the emergency lane. At Exit 12 (Spout Spring Rd), the vehicles exited and proceeded to travel south on Spout Springs Rd. The driver of the Camaro slowed and stopped at a gas station, where he was arrested.
The driver of the Camaro was identified as Bobby Maurice Hammond, 21, of Loganville was charged with various traffic offenses, including felony fleeing and possession of a controlled substance for THC oil.
Through investigative measures, the driver of the Mustang has been identified and warrants for his arrest were secured through the Hall County Magistrate Court. That driver has not been apprehended at this time, so we will not be releasing his name.”
