The Hall County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO) Accident Investigation Unit (AIU) is investigating a three-vehicle
crash that claimed the life of a man on McEver Road Thursday afternoon.
HCSO NEWS RELEASE:
“Investigators responded to the crash at Vineyard Way at approximately 4:30 p.m.
According to the preliminary investigation, a 2019 Honda Civic driven by Sandra Raquel Garcia, 36, of
Gainesville, was stopped in the southbound turn lane waiting to turn left on Vineyard Way. A southbound
2014 Nissan Sentra rear-ended Garcia’s vehicle, pushing it into the intersection. A 2024 Kia Forte, driven by Brooke Allison Tortorigi, 39, of Gainesville, was traveling north on McEver Road and hit Garcia’s vehicle in its side.
Hall County Fire Rescue (HCFR) transported the Nissan Sentra driver, an 80-year-old Gainesville man, to
Northeast Georgia Medical Center where he was pronounced dead. HCFR also transported Tortorigi, Garcia and Garcia’s male passenger, 10, to the hospital, all with minor injuries.
AIU is working to notify next of kin of the deceased man.
Southbound lanes of McEver Road were blocked for approximately 90 minutes.”
