One Gwinnett County police officer was fatally wounded early Sunday, and another was shot as well when they answered a call in the 1700 block of E. Park Place. They were responding to a report of fraud.
GWINNETT P.D. NEWS RELEASE:
“While on scene, THE officers made contact with a subject who fired shots at two officers, striking both of them. The officers returned fire, injuring the subject. The officers and the suspect were transported to a local hospital with injuries
One of the officers has succumbed to their injuries and has died. The second officer remains in critical but stable condition.
The Georgia Bureau of Investigation has assumed control of the investigation.
