UPDATE: Victim, driver of at-fault car in fatal 365 crash ID’d

UPDATE 8 P.M. FRIDAY: The man killed in Thursday morning’s accident on Georgia 365 was James Leach, 48, Toccoa, according to the Georgia State Patrol, and the driver found at-fault was Phin Nhep, 54, Loganville.

EARLIER STORY. POSTED THURSDAY AFTERNOON:

One person died in a two-vehicle crash on Georgia 365 in the pre-dawn hours Thursday.

GEORGIA STATE PATROL NARRATIVE:

“Troopers from Post 6 Gainesville were dispatched to SR 365 at SR 52 (Lula Road) (about 4:15) to investigate a crash.

Upon arrival the investigation determined that an Acura RDX was traveling southbound on SR 365 in the right lane. A Toyota Corolla was stopped at a red light in the right lane of SR 365 southbound.

The Acura was following too close and struck the rear end of the Toyota. The driver of the Toyota was discovered deceased on scene. The driver of the Acura and passenger of Acura were transported to (Northeast Georgia Medical Center) Gainesville with injuries.

The driver of the Acura will be charged (Vehicular) Homicide 2nd (Degree), Following too close, Failure to obey traffic control device.”
