On the run for several months, suspect in two theft cases now in jail in Gville

Bobby Lee Thompson, 50, of Chattanooga, is charged in connection with the theft of a skid steer and two trailers, valued at a total of $40,000, in Hall County earlier this year.

HCSO NARRATIVE:

“On May…the Caterpillar skid steer, valued at more than $30,000, was stolen from a construction site in the 2900 block of Gillsville Highway (SR 323). The following day, two trailers, each valued at more than $5,000, were stolen from a business in the 1600 block of Candler Road (SR 60). The skid steer and one of the trailers were recovered from the Midland Greenway area…of Gainesville on May 29. The second trailer was located at a residence in Bowersville in Hart County on June 10.

With the assistance of the Chattanooga Police Department, property crimes investigators with the Hall County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO) were able to identify Mr. Thompson as the offender in the thefts and obtained arrest warrants on June 11.

On Tuesday, Sept. 30, Mr. Thompson was transported from the Blount County Jail in Tennessee to Hall County to face three felony counts of theft by taking. He is being held on a bond of $39,100.”
