Hall County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO) investigators arrested an Oakwood man this week on numerous charges stemming from a drug and burglary charges. Burnell Gavin McCormick, 20, was being held without bond in the Hall County Jail on Friday afternoon.
During the HCSO Special Investigations Unit (SIU) drug investigation involving McCormick, he allegedly sold illegal drugs on six occasions over the past six months.
“McCormick sold the drugs in broad daylight in the parking lots of two businesses in the 4000 block of McEver Road,” sheriff’s office spokeswoman B.J. Williams said. “The illegal drugs included tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) oil, dimethyltryptamine (DMT), cocaine and marijuana. McCormick was armed with a handgun during all but two of the incidents. McCormick had a stolen firearm during one of the occasions
“Investigators continued the drug investigation concurrently with a burglary investigation that implicated McCormick. On Thursday, McCormick entered a residence in the 4000 block of Shawnee Drive, rummaged through rooms inside and left.”
He was arrested Thursday morning at his residence in the 4000 block of Lake Forest Drive. At the time of arrest, he was in possession of a THC vape product, Williams said.
McCormick has been charged with:
- First-degree burglary – felony
- Sale of cocaine – felony (2 counts)
- Sale of schedule I drug – felony
- Sale of tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) oil – felony
- Sale of marijuana – felony (2 counts)
- Possession of a firearm during commission of a crime – felony (5 counts)
- Use of communication facility in committing or facilitating a drug transaction – felony
- Possession of THC oil – felony
- Theft by receiving – misdemeanor
