Oakwood burglary suspect arrested

The DeKalb County man wanted in connection with the overnight burglary of the Dollar Tree in Oakwood last week has been located and is now in the Hall County Jail. Sheriff’s office records show Robert Anderson, 56, was picked up at the DeKalb County Jail Monday and returned to Hall County.

The Oakwood Police Department investigator working the case said Tuesday morning he had developed leads on Anderson’s whereabouts and alerted police in DeKalb County.

“I had received some intelligence that he was hanging out in Dekalb County,” Sgt. Stewart Webb wrote in an email. “I sent a bolo (Be On the Lookout) to several agencies in Dekalb County. He was located at a Wendys restaurant in Dekalb County and taken into custody by the Dekalb County Police Department on 02/24/2024 without incident.”

Anderson, a former employee of the store located on Winder Highway near Royal Lakes, was identified using security camera footage as a suspect within hours of the break-in.

He is being held without bond.
