NWS: Two inches of rain possible

Widespread showers today and another wave of showers midweek will likely bring 1 to 2 inches of additional rainfall across much of north and central Georgia, according to the National Weather Service (NWS).

Forecasters say there’s an 86 percent chance that Gainesville will get two inches by Thursday. (Check the accompanying graphic for the chances elsewhere in the region). Already today as of noon better than an inch had been recorded at the Gainesville airport since early last evening.

Temperatures have been the coldest since spring, with readings in the mid-to-upper 40s and wind chills near 40.
