A just-released preliminary report on the recent fatal helicopter crash in Dawson County goes into detail about weather conditions, the pilot’s qualifications, etc., but reaches no conclusions on what might have caused the crash.

An examination of the helicopter did not find anything that might have contributed to the crash.
The pilot, who died in the crash along with the groom, was well-qualified to pilot the make and model of the helicopter he was flying, the report concluded.
There were thunderstorms in the area at the time of the accident as well as mountainous terrain.
No word on when the NTSB’s final report on the accident might be available, but it usually takes a year or more before the board’s investigation is finished.
