‘No hotel on Ivey’

Opposition is growing to the proposal for a luxury hotel and other residential components at the end of Ivey Road. This, as the Gainesville Mayor and City Council prepare to consider the proposal Tuesday.

“No Hotel on Ivey” signs have sprung up in the yards of homes along Browns Bridge Road, Ivey Road and other streets in the area – the latter two home to many single-family residences which is the case on the streets that intersect it.

Capstone Properties plans to locate the hotel complex on Lake Lanier at the end of Ivey Road – the only road into and out of the affected area.

The Gainesville Planning & Appeals Board (GPAB) earlier this year recommended approval, of the project, with conditions.
