Though the National Weather Service (NWS) last week declared the drought in Georgia was over, this week’s U.S. Drought Monitor (USDM) report shows that 72 percent of the state, including all of northeast Georgia, is still experiencing drought conditions of one degree or another.
Take Hall County, for instance. Most of the it is considered by the USDM to be “abnormally” dry with the part northwest of the Chattahoochee River and Lake Lanier bordering White, Lumpkin and Dawson counties experiencing “moderately” dry conditions, just a bit worse that the rest of the county.
Most of the drought-free counties are in east central and west central Georgia.

And the level of Lake Lanier is unchanged from a week ago: 1066.5.
