Gainesville philanthropist, co-founder of Ivesco dies

A “life remembrance” will be held for Wendell Starke, Gainesville philanthropist and co-founder of Ivesco, who died recently at the age of 84.

Eagle Ranch, Boys and Girls Club, Salvation Army, Northeast Georgia History Center, Humane Society of
Northeast Georgia, My Sister’s Place, Family Promise, The Arts Council, Junior Achievement, Atlanta
Botanical Garden of Gainesville, and many other local non-profits benefited from his philanthropy.

Invesco, founded in 1978, is an independent investment management firm which now has offices in 20-plus countries. Starke served as its President and Chief Investment Officer and later as Chairman of the Board and CEO.
