NGHS: Hill named Volunteer of the Year

Northeast Georgia Health System (NGHS) recently recognized 183 volunteers – with more than 115,000 combined hours of service over the past 12 months – during its annual Volunteer Appreciation Luncheon held at the Braselton Civic Center. Three volunteers also received awards for their exceptional service and dedication.

Donna Hill was presented with the Joan Kosmala Volunteer of the Year Award, recognizing her 15 years and more than 2,600 hours of service.

“Donna is a loyal, committed and dedicated member of the community,” said Matt Hanley, MD, president and CEO of NGHS. “She is a hard worker who is always reliable and so gracious with her time that she volunteers in two different service areas, as both a NICU cuddler and a shuttle driver.”

Linda Miller received the Nell Welchel Wiegand Patient Friend Award, recognizing her more than 15 years and 3,200 hours of service.

Susan Wentz received the Marjorie Covington Smith Auxilian of the Year award. Susan was recognized for her more than 11 years and over 2,000 hours of service.

NGHS has more than 670 volunteers who contributed over 46,000 hours of service during the past 9 months to help enhance experiences for patients and visitors at each of the Health System’s five hospital campuses. For more information about volunteering at NGHS, visit nghs.com/volunteer
