New traffic, pedestrian controls operational at Gville intersection

For those brave enough to attempt to cross it on foot, there are now “Walk, Don’t Walk” signals at one of the busiest intersections in Gainesville – Browns Bridge Road at McEver Road.

The signals were installed several weeks ago along with additions to the traffic signals at the crossroads. All were activated last week.

This follows a recently completed Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT) project that added additional turn lanes as well as extending some already in place. The intersection is home to one of the major north-south and east-west crossroads in Hall County, with four lanes running in each direction, in addition to the several turn lanes.

A RaceTrac convenience store with multi-pump fuel islands is on one corner, a Walmart Neighborhood Market with its own fuel islands on another, and a now-under-construction QuikTrip convenience store, which when completed will have more fuel islands, on a third. The fourth corner will be home to a Dunkin’ Donuts which now under construction.
