New playground at Boys & Girls Clubs of Lanier

Boys & Girls Clubs of Lanier (BGCL) officially opened a new playground at its Joseph F. Walters Club on Memorial Park Drive Wednesday, celebrating the milestone with a ribbon cutting ceremony.

BGCL NEWS RELEASE:

“The new climbing structure is designed for elementary-age youth and will serve Club members in Hall County as part of BGCL’s ongoing commitment to healthy, active programming. The project was made possible through the generosity of three community partners: the Atlanta Falcons Youth Fund, KABOOM!, and Georgia Power.

“A safe place to play is not a small thing,” said BGCL CEO Steve Mickens. “For the kids who come through these doors every day, this playground is proof that this community sees them and invests in them. We are grateful to the Atlanta Falcons Youth Fund, KABOOM!, and Georgia Power for making this possible at the Joseph F. Walters Club.”

The Joseph F. Walters Club serves children and teens in Hall County through after-school and summer programming focused on academic success, healthy lifestyles, and good character and citizenship. The new playground expands the Club’s ability to offer active play as a core part of that experience.

The Atlanta Falcons Youth Fund is an associate-led fund of the Arthur M. Blank Family Foundation with a focus on improving the health and fitness of youth across Georgia. KABOOM! is a national nonprofit dedicated to ensuring every child has a quality place to play. Georgia Power, a subsidiary of Southern Company, is a long-standing partner in community development initiatives across the state.
