New NEGHC executive director; Wilheit honored by USG

*Greg Payne, a longtime volunteer with the organization, has been named Executive Director of the Northeast Georgia History Center (NEGHC). Payne comes to the history center from stints in the business world with Manhattan Associates and UPS. He replaces Glen Kyle who resigned earlier this year to take a job with Forum Communications, a Gainesville marketing agency.

*Gainesville businessman Philip Wilheit received the University System of Georgia’s (USG) Regents’ Hall of Fame Alumni and Distinguished Friends Award Saturday night at the USG’s annual gala. The event raises thousands of dollars each year to support and provide need-based scholarships for USG students.
