New fire stations in the works & an amphitheater

*Jefferson plans to locate a new fire station on Jett Roberts Road between Dry Pond Road and Thomas Parkway. The land is being donated to the city by Pattillo Industrial Real Estate, according to a fire department Facebook post. “This monumental donation will revolutionize emergency response in the northeastern part of our city,” the post continues. No other information was available on the project.

*In Cleveland, the city council has given the go-ahead for the construction of a new fire station on East Underwood Street on the site of a former funeral home. WRWH reports the facility will be of a four-bay design, with a kitchen, sleeping quarters, and office space.  City officials say they hope to have it ready to open by the late next spring or early summer.

*An Appalachian Regional Commission grant will help pay for a new amphitheater in Cornelia. It’s a one-million-dollar matching grant. But before construction begins, the plans must undergo an environmental review.
