*A 77-year-old Gainesville man, John Richard Shelton, is free on bonds totaling $16,830 after being charged Wednesday in connection with the death last week of a former chairman of the Hall County Republican Party. Shelton is charged with 2nd degree vehicular homicide and failure to yield the right-of-way. *A12-year-old girl was quickly located Wednesday night after running away from home in the Highland Circle area, according to the Hall County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO). A spokesman said Thursday a sheriff’s K9 team assisted in the search, and she was located “near the house not long after we started searching. She was OK.” She disappeared about 7:00.
*Gwinnett Police need the public’s help in locating a Buford 16-year-old. Asata Amun was reported missing by her father. She is 5 feet 2 inches tall, weighs 115 pounds, and has black hair and brown eyes. She was last seen wearing a white shirt and black pants. She was last seen at her home on Westoak Court in Buford.
*Gainesville Police are investigating the theft of twelve windows and two doors, valued at $3,000, from a construction site on Salinger Road Way. The theft, which occurred over the weekend, was discovered Monday morning.
*A Gainesville man is in the Hall County Jail without bond following his arrest by for aggravated child molestation in a case going back nearly seven years. Hall County sheriff’s investigators took custody of Christopher Chagoya, 20, Wednesday. Chagoya, who was 13 at the time, allegedly committed the crime against another boy, also 13, at Chagoya’s home. He’s charged as an adult. Sheriff’ deputies were notified of the abuse in February when the victim told family member about it.
