UPDATE: GSP says car turned into path of his bike; Former Hall GOP chair killed

The Hall County Republican party is acknowledging on its Facebook page that a former chairman of the party has died – and the state patrol has now released details of the traffic accident that took his life.

James Gisonna was killed in a motorcycle accident Tuesday afternoon on Poplar Springs Road near Johnson high school.

The state patrol said Wednesday night the accident happened when a car, attempting a turn into the high school parking, turned into the path of Gisonna’s bike.

“The driver of the (car) advised he did not see the (motorcycle) approaching and proceeded to turn left, traveling directly into (its) path of travel,” the state patrol report says, adding that “(Gisonna) applied his brakes and skidded but was unable to avoid impact. The front of (his motorcycle) then struck the (car) on its right front side causing disabling damage to both vehicles and fatal injuries to (Gisonna).”

The Hall GOP Facebook posting reads in part “James served as our County Chairman 2021 – 2023. We will miss his humor, his positive attitude, and his bigger than life presence he brought to a room. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family and friends.”
