A Forsyth County man already jailed in Hall County for illegal use of a company credit card now faces more than 800 additional counts in the case.
Michael Chad Evans, 46, of Cumming, was arrested on April 16 after a Hall County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO) investigation determined he had used a credit card belonging to Oakwood Arrow Auto Auction on a number of occasions to purchase money orders for personal use. Evans was working for the business at the time.
In April, Evans was charged with one count of theft by conversion and 36 counts of unauthorized use of a financial transaction card. The investigation at that time determined Evans had used the credit card 36 times from March 18 until his arrest April 16. During that time, he used the credit card to purchase money orders totaling more than $30,500.
“The ongoing investigation determined Evans used the credit card for unauthorized purchases 843 times between May 14, 2024 and March 17 this year,” HCSO spokeswoman B.J. Williams said Monday. “The investigator obtained a warrant on May 27 for an additional 843 counts of unauthorized use of a financial transaction card. As a result of those thefts, Evans deposited $421,500 in fraudulently-obtained funds into his bank account.”
Sunday, Evans was served with the warrant for the additional charges at the Hall County Jail, where he remained Monday afternoon with no bond.

A Forsyth County man who was arrested in April and charged with stealing close to a million dollars from his South Hall employer has had additional charges in the case lodged against him.
The new charges were filed against Michael Chad Evans over the weekend, according to Hall County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO) spokesman Derrick Booth. They are four counts of unauthorized use of financial transaction cards.
Authorities said at the time of the 46-year-old Evans’ arrest in April he was charged with one count of theft by conversion and 36 counts of unauthorized use of a financial transaction card. Investigators said then they believed the total theft amount could reach more than $700,000.
