A Gainesville man was being held without bond Thursday afternoon following his arrest Wednesday night at his home on child molestation charges. The charges were filed after Hall County sheriff’s detectives uncovered new information in a 2022 case.
HALL COUNTY SHEREIFF’S OFFICE NARRATIVE:
According to the preliminary investigation that led to this week’s charge, Juan Antonio Flores-Lopez committed the crime, involving a female victim who was under the age of 16, at his home in April of 2022. Investigators secured the latest arrest warrant after receiving new information in a case that involved a a different female victim.
In the original case, investigators charged Flores-Lopez with sexual battery (felony) for a May 22, 2022, crime that happened in the victim’s home. The victim, who was also under the age of 16, disclosed the incident to family, and deputies responded on the day it happened. Investigators obtained the sexual battery warrant for Flores-Lopez on Nov. 1, 2022. He turned himself in the following day. The initial case has not reached its final disposition, and additional charges are possible.”
