*A well-traveled international physician has chosen to begin his practice as a cardiologist in the same region where he completed his training — right here in northeast Georgia. Emmanuel Olayiwola Amoran, MD, who was a member of the inaugural class of Cardiovascular Disease Fellows at Northeast Georgia Medical Center (NGMC) Gainesville, has joined Georgia Heart Institute to care for heart patients in Gainesville and Clayton.
*Monica Newton, founding program director of the Family Medicine residency program at Northeast Georgia Medical Center (NGMC), has been elected President of the Georgia Academy of Family Physicians (GAFP). GAFP is the Georgia chapter of the American Academy of Family Physicians (AAFP), with a mission to promote the health of Georgians and advancing the specialty of family medicine through education, advocacy, and service.
*Georgia Heart Institute recently welcomed three specialized cardiologists to its growing electrophysiology program: Gautham Kanagaraj, MD; Murtaza Sundhu, MD; and Brian Vickers, MD.
