New Amicalola Falls welcome center ready to open

This new 5,500-square-foot facility will replace the existing center at the state park, according to the Georgia Department of Natural Resources (DNR). The park is located in Dawson County.

The facility is designed with “influences of the Appalachian foothills, including stacked stone, heavy timbers, a high sloping, central gabled roof, flanked by low sloping shed roofs.”

The center will include an Information Desk, park offices, retail area, interpretive center, museum, animal Ddsplay and restrooms. The entrance drive will be widened and relocated to accommodate two lanes of traffic.

A ribbon-cutting and grand opening are planned for 11:00 Oct. 10.
