As we briefly reported Saturday, one of our own, Nathan Latty, is one of Rising Stars who will be recognized next month by the Georgia Association of Broadcasters (GAB).
Nathan is a 2024 graduate of Cherokee Bluff High School who earlier this month began his college career at the University of North Georgia.
And though we mentioned his selection in a story that was posted Saturday, we thought you might like to know a bit more about him.
In his nomination letter to the GAB, 97.5 Glory FM’s President and General Manager Mike Wofford noted that Nathan has been an employee for three years, filling a variety of roles during that time.
“He works each day like the radio station belongs to him,” Wofford wrote. “He makes sure that every aspect of our business works to make us successful. Any time that I am working at a remote location broadcasting a local sports broadcast, Nathan is at the controls at our studio producing our broadcast. He is in charge of making sure everything works successfully, from the quality of our remote broadcast to producing the commercials for these broadcasts. He has a talent that so many people do not understand. He has a keen sense of how the music, commercials, and programs should sound. When you listen to our station on the radio or online, you will hear the quality of the broadcasts.
On his resume’ Latty listed in detail some of what he’s been involved in during his 97.5 Glory FM tenure:
Producer/Assistant 97.5 Glory FM/WGTJ Radio, Gainesville, GA April 2022 – Present
- Produced high school sports broadcasts weekly
- Produced radio imaging for sports broadcasts (i.e. intros, outros, liners)
- Maintained station’s automation software (Raduga)
- Aided in constructing station’s website wgtjradio.com (WordPress) and authored several local news and
sports articles - Created graphics for social media to promote various sports broadcasts
- Produced on-air “promos” to promote the station’s online news publication
- Assisted with company’s finances (i.e. making deposits, sending invoices to commercial partners)
- Updated on-air programs weekly
- Served commercial partners as well as representatives of local churches who ran on-air programs and
assisted with their technological needs
And, yes, he will continue to be a part of the “family” even though he’s now a college student.
Latty says he is more than humbled to be selected as one of the recipients of the GAB award.
“When I first began working at the station at 16, I never could have dreamed that I would be given the opportunities and have the experiences that I have had,” he said. “Just to be deemed eligible to apply is more than an honor. First and foremost, may Jesus Christ be glorified. Also, thank you to Mike Wofford. Without him, none of this would have been possible. I also want to thank my family, friends, and church family at Calvary Baptist Church for always supporting me. God bless!“
“The best thing I can say about Nathan,” Wofford concluded, “is that he has made himself invaluable to our business. Nathan is the epitome of what it takes to be successful in this industry.”
