A Buford man is free on bond following his arrest Friday by Flowery Branch Police after he reportedly fled from an officer who tried to stop him for darting in and out of traffic.
FLOWERY BRANCH POLICE DEPAARTMENT (FBPD) NEWS RELEASE:
On February 28, 2025, An Officer from the Flowery Branch Police Department attempted to conduct a traffic stop on a black motorcycle that was actively splitting lanes, illegally passing other traffic on Phil Niekro Boulevard. The motorcycle also ran a red light in the same area.
After the Officer initiated the stop, the motorcycle accelerated, clearly fleeing from the initiating Officer.
Moments after the motorcycle fled, the motorcycle and driver were located on Mulberry Street. The driver, Sergey Matveyev, 19 of Buford, was arrested and charged with the following:
- Fleeing and Eluding a Police Officer
- Reckless Driving (m)
- Operating a Motorcycle without a Motorcycle License
A spokeswoman for the Hall County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO) said Monday Matveyev was freed on bond of $2,783 Saturday.
