Additional charges have been filed by Oakwood Police against an Oakwood man already in jail on charges levied against him more than a month ago.
Oakwood Police spokesman Stewart Webb said Friday warrants were served on Douglas Ward Thursday at the Hall County Jail charging him with Entering an Auto and two counts of Theft by Taking.
Those charges grew out of an investigation also in June that began when officers responded to a call in the 4100 block of Continental Drive.
“(This was) in reference to…entering auto and theft from a motor vehicle,” Sgt. Webb said. “Upon arrival, officers spoke to the victim who stated that an unknown suspect had entered his vehicle and stole his wallet, and a handgun. Detective Campbell completed a follow-up investigation and was able to identify Douglas Ward as being the suspect who committed this theft.”
The other charges against Ward were the result of a domestic incident that also occurred in June and include Simple Battery, Giving a False Name and Date of Birth, and Public Drunkenness. He was already wanted for Probation Violation.
Bond has been set as $19,700 though there is no bond on four of the charges.
