With the federal government shutdown over, the state Department of Labor (GDOL) is playing catchup in getting reports out on unemployment and unemployment insurance applications. This report is for September.
First-time claims in September in Hall County were 26.9% higher than August. Compared to September 2024, they were up 39 percent.
Statewide, applications were 2.1 percent more than August and three percent fewer than last year.
Analysts say finding jobs by those who are out of work is hard because hiring has been sluggish.
