A man with Hall County connections who had been missing from his Canton home for more than a week has been found dead in North Carolina.
Canton Police confirmed Friday in a Facebook post that 85-year-old Byron Jones, who was last seen leaving his residence at around 6:00 p.m. April 21, was found near his disabled vehicle in Cherokee County, North Carolina. They noted at the time that Jones suffered from several medical conditions including dementia and that he did not have a cell phone when he disappeared.
The last confirmed sighting of the vehicle was via a Flock camera hit near downtown Jasper.
The cause of death has not been disclosed but authorities say no foul play is suspected.
