More than 750 backpacks were distributed at the Midland Greenway Back-to-School Field Day over the weekend, according to the Gainesville Police Department, one of the sponsoring agencies.
Coming just two days before city schools opened their doors for the new school year, it also featured “a ton” of free school supplies, free haircuts, free bicycle helmets and more. Not to mention 1,000+ hotdogs. In addition, there were field day activities.
Other sponsors were Gainesville Parks & Recreation, Gainesville Fire Department, Amerigroup, Chick-fil-A Gainesville West and Safe Kids of Northeast Georgia. Syfan Transport and Syfan Logistics donated all of the food and drinks.
