A Georgia congressman who represents parts of Hall County went toe-to-toe Monday with Dr. Anthony Fauci (pictured) during a hearing on COVID guidelines that were put into place at the outbreak of the virus four years ago.
Dr. Fauci, often described as “the face” of the federal government’s response to COVID, was appearing voluntarily before the House Oversight Committee’s Select Subcommittee on the Coronavirus Pandemic.
Rep. Rich McCormick (R-Suwanee) told Fauci at one point during the proceedings “You affected people’s ability to work, travel, be educated, to actually flourish in America, to self-determine, as well as God given rights. Shame on you. Dr. Fauci, you have become Dr. Fear…(they) hate having their freedoms taken from them. You inspired and created fear through mask mandates, school closures, vaccine mandates that have destroyed the American people’s trust in our public health institutions. This fear you created will continue to have ripple effects over generations to come.”
Fauci responded that some of the guidelines outlined by McCormick did not originate with him, that they came from the CDC and defended his work.
