The man accused in the disappearance of a 12-year-old Gainesville girl last year which held the attention of the community for several weeks is scheduled to go on trial Tuesday.
Antonio Agustin-Ailon, 34, of Dover, Ohio, was arrested in Ohio in late July in the company of Maria Gomez-Perez who had disappeared two months earlier from her west Gainesville home. Ohio authorities charged him with rape (two counts), gross sexual imposition, one count of interference with custody, and pandering sexually oriented material involving a minor (two counts).
