Like the Energizer Bunny, he just keeps going and going and going…

Northeast Georgia Health System (NGHS) recently celebrated a very special birthday for a very special man: Its oldest (and youngest at heart) volunteer at NGMC Braselton, Darrell Whiting, who turned 90.

“Each week, Mr. Darrel visits heart patients through the Mended Hearts Program, offering hope and words of encouragement — because he’s been there too,” NGHS wrote on a Facebook posting.

The program welcomes volunteers who are heart patients or caregivers themselves, ready to share their story, their strength and a little hope.

Even NGHS President and CEO Matt Hanley (pictured) stopped by to help Whiting celebrate this milestone birthday and thank him for his “kindness and selfless commitment to our patients.”
