Fire departments from three jurisdictions responded to a fire Thursday night at an anti-bellum style home at 1029 South Elm Street in Commerce.
“Thanks to a passerby spotting the fire and calling 911 immediately, the fire damage was minimal,” according to the Commerce Fire Department. “The cause of fire was determined to be a lightning strike.”
In addition to Commerce, firefighters from Nicholson, and the Jackson County Correctional Institute responded.
