LCSO: 87-year-old died when his ATV overturned into a creek

LUMPKIN CO. SHERIFF’S OFFICE NARRATIVE:

“The call originally came in (over the weekend) as a missing persons call, when the victim’s wife returned home and did not see her husband at home.

She believed that her husband had been riding his side by side when he went missing.  The victim also had some medical issues that caused her concern for his wellbeing with being gone for several hours.

Prior to deputies arriving family members began searching for the victim.  When deputies arrived they were advised that family had just located the victim. The victim was learned to be Frank Ronald Norman, an 87-year-old male who had been riding his ATV/Side-by-Side around on his property off of Jeff Sullens Road.

Mr. Norman was found upside down in an overturned side by side with a head injury.  Deputies and Fire/EMS personnel removed Mr. Norman and he was pronounced as deceased on scene.

The accident was described as the vehicle appeared to have rolled over on the severe, woody incline, toppling over into the small creek landing on its rooftop.”
