*Attorney Kelly Anne Miles has been selected as the 2026 Gainesville Woman of Distinction by the Girl Scout of Historic Georgia. It’s an honor, the organization’s website says, recognizing a woman whose leadership and service reflect the values of the Girl Scout Promise and Law and make her an outstanding role model for today’s Girl Scouts and the broader community. *9th District Congressman Andrew Clyde (R-Jackson County) recently announced the district’s winners of the 2025 Congressional App Challenge. *Callie Daniel, representing the Kiwanis Club of Gainesville, is this year’s Belle of the Ball. Daniel was crowned at Saturday night’s Charity Ball, sponsored by the Junior League of Gainesville-Hall County.
*A state trooper who was a Lumpkin County native and who died in the line of duty in 2024 will be memorialized Tuesday in a road naming ceremony. A stretch of Georgia 400 near Whelchel Road in the county will be named in memory of Chase Redner.
