The July heat wave helped push the average daily temperature in Gainesville during the month to 82.8 degrees, or four degrees above normal, according to the National Weather Service’s (NWS) July Climate Summary.
That was tops among the nine reporting stations in the area covered by the NWS Peachtree City office. Of the other eight, Atlanta was right behind Gainesville at 3.4 degrees above normal, followed by DeKalb Peachtree Airport, 3.1.
For the state as whole, July was two degrees warmer than usual. Meanwhile, rainfall was about one inch below average statewide and 1.46 inches below normal in Gainesville.
