The work on placing pedestrian-friendly concrete islands in the middle of Jesse Jewell Parkway from Skelton Road to John Morrow Parkway is on hold, for now.
A sign at the Skelton intersection has for weeks warned motorists that beginning November 18, this past Monday, overnight lane closures would be necessary to accommodate the work. But now that sign says the work will begin December 2, the Monday after Thanksgiving Weekend.
A spokesman for the state Department of Transportation could not be reached for comment on why the start of the work was being delayed.
