JEMC 11:00 a.m. Sunday update – pausing non-payment service disconnects

As of 11 a.m., crews were addressing two outages affecting 75 members and continue working to restore service as quickly as conditions and safety procedures allow.

Freezing rain and cold temperatures are continuing across the service area. As ice builds up, the added weight on trees and power lines can lead to outages. While impacts have been limited so far, conditions are still changing.

“Every outage impacts people we serve and live alongside,” said Tommy Parker, vice president of operations. “Our crews are working to restore electric service safely, and we appreciate our members’ patience.”

To support our residential and commercial members during Winter Storm Fern, Jackson EMC has temporarily paused service disconnections for nonpayment. This suspension began Friday, January 23, and is expected to continue through Thursday, January 29. We plan to resume normal operations on Friday, January 30, if conditions allow.

As of 11 a.m., Jackson EMC is experiencing two outages affecting 75 members:

  • Gwinnett: 72
  • Jackson: 3
