This summer six high school students – two of them from Hall County – represented Jackson EMC on the annual Washington Youth Tour, described by the electric co-op as “a youth leadership development program that inspires the next generation of changemakers.
Making the trip this year were Riley Seau, Jr., Chestatee High School; Josephine Lundy, Cherokee Bluff High School; Kinsey Wilder, Jefferson High; Alexa Cabreja, Archer High; Bennett Hicks, Prince Avenue Christian School; and Reese Sorrow, East Jackson High.
In all, there were 1,600 students from across the county who made the trip this year. Delegates are selected each year based on their academic achievement, community service, and leadership potential. While in Washington they explored national history and met with some of the country’s leaders.
