Jackson EMC’s Lee named to GMRC Council

David Lee, Jackson EMC’s Gainesville District Manager, has been appointed by Lt. Gov. Burt Jones to the Georgia Mountains Regional Commission Council (GMRC) for a two-year term as the Lieutenant Governor’s representative.

Lee is responsible for internal and external affairs, including leadership engagement and government relations for Jackson EMC’s office in Hall County. Before being named District Manager, he was a Commercial/Industrial Marketing Representative for Jackson EMC. He has worked at the cooperative since 1999.

Lee is active in several civic organizations and community groups, including the Gainesville/Hall County Development Authority, the Greater Hall Chamber of Commerce, and the Gainesville Rotary Club. He is a graduate of Leadership Hall and Leadership Gwinnett.

Lee graduated from the University of Georgia with a bachelor’s degree in business administration and Asbury Theological Seminary with a Master of Divinity.

“In my time knowing David, he has helped to support the mission and vision of the Regional Commission and has been an active member of the community,” said Heather Feldman, GMRC executive director. “David truly embodies the spirit of community and cooperation, and I am excited about his new role on the GMRC Council and look forward to growing the GMRC together over the next two years with his direction and guidance.”

On receiving his appointment, Lee said: “I’m honored to serve as a council member for the Georgia Mountains Regional Commission as we strive to improve the quality of life for future generations throughout the region.”

One of only five state appointments, the Lieutenant Governor’s position represents a non-public member who resides within the Georgia Mountains Region. Other state appointments include three appointed by the Governor and one by the House Speaker.
