*The Jackson County Commission (JCC) this week approved a resolution honoring county resident Eden Pethel for designing Georgia’s commemorative license plate celebrating America’s 250th Anniversary. Pethel’s design is featured as part of Georgia’s official “America 250” license plate, which is now available to Georgia drivers when registering a new vehicle or renewing an existing registration. “Eden’s creative design reflects our nation’s founding and Georgia’s role in the Revolutionary War, making this achievement even more special,” the resolution reads in part.
*Gainesville’s free trolley service resumes May 8 with routes covering many neighborhoods and downtown. More details will be released in the coming weeks, including service dates/times, routes and maps, etc.
*The Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT) advises motorists of scheduled night paving along State Route 20 (Buford Drive) in Gwinnett County overnight tonight 8:00 p.m. – 8:00 a.m. between Buford Highway and Peachtree Industrial Boulevard.
*Forsyth County authorities posted on social media Saturday that a sheriff’s deputy had recently stopped a vehicle on Georgia 400 “bee-bopping” its way down the road at a “measly” 130 mph and let the driver know that “Forsyth County is not the place for those kinds of speeds.”
