One person has been arrested, and another is on the run following a year-long investigation by Flowery Branch Police into a series of six mysterious shootings in Flowery Branch. Asst. Police Chief Todd Templeton said Friday this all began January 8, when the department responded to a report of property damage at a residence on Keepsake Lane.
“Upon investigation, it was discovered that a bullet had struck the window of the home,” Chief Templeton said. “The origin of the bullet and the person responsible remained unknown at that time. Flowery Branch Police Investigators immediately began working on the case.”
Then on January 31, officers were called to another residence on Keepsake Lane regarding a vehicle that had been damaged by gunfire from an unknown location.
“Over the course of the investigation, Flowery Branch Police Investigators followed several leads and identified two persons of interest: Brian Greene, 51, and Thomas McEntire, 72, who resided together at a nearby home,” Templeton said. “However, there was insufficient evidence at that time to establish probable cause for an arrest.”
However, he said, the case took a critical turn Tuesday when four additional homes in the area were damaged by gunfire. “Investigators traced the source of the gunfire to the home shared by Greene and McEntire in the 7900 block of Keepsake Lane.”
Thursday night, police executed a search warrant at the suspects’ residence. “During the search, investigators obtained numerous pieces of evidence. This led to the establishment of probable cause to charge both suspects. Each was charged with Keeping or Maintaining a Disorderly House, Discharge of a Firearm on or Near a Public Roadway, and Reckless Conduct. At the time of the search, McIntire was at home and was taken into custody. However, Greene was not present and was still a large Friday afternoon.
“This case underscores the importance of community involvement in public safety and the need to say something when you see something,” Templeton said. “The Flowery Branch Police would like to express our gratitude to the public for providing critical tips that helped further this investigation.”
This investigation remains ongoing, and additional charges are anticipated as the case progresses. Anyone with additional. information concerning this matter is asked to call Flowery Branch Police Investigators at 770-967-6336.
