If at first, you don’t succeed…

Hall County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO) deputies have charged a Gainesville man with second-degree burglary after he entered the victims’ home and locked himself in a room late Wednesday night after first being denied entry by one of the victims.

HCSO NARRATIVE:

The incident unfolded at a home in the 200 block of Highland Terrace when the suspect knocked on the victims’ door at approximately 10 p.m. A male occupant answered, and the suspect, later identified as Abelino Cucul-Chub, 32, asked to come inside. The occupant declined.

Shortly before midnight, Cucul-Chub returned to the house and gained entry, locking himself in a room.

Another occupant of the residence called 911, and deputies responded. Cucul-Chub refused deputies’ commands to come out of the room. One of the residents attempted to force the door open but could not.  Cucul-Chub eventually unlocked it, and deputies detained him. Following the preliminary investigation, deputies obtained arrest warrants charging him with second degree burglary (felony), obstruction of an officer (misdemeanor) and theft by taking (misdemeanor).

Deputies recovered approximately $60 cash Cucul-Chub stole during the incident.

He remained held in the Hall County Jail on $8,300 bond Thursday afternoon…”
