*The Trump administration reports that Operation Angel’s Honor held earlier this month in memory of a slain UGA student apprehended 1,030 immigrants nationwide for various crimes, including rape, child sexual exploitation, drug offenses, and food stamp fraud. Twenty-two-year-old Laken Riley was killed on February 22, 2024, on the campus of UGA by an illegal immigrant of Venezuela. President Trump made the murder of 22-year-old Riley a central talking point during his 2024 presidential campaign.
*Many new laws will take effect in Georgia starting New Year’s Day. They include tax credits expanded to include clinics, hospitals and other professionals that train healthcare students. To help combat fraud, temporary car permits will be issued electronically. Companies will no longer be allowed to require equipment owners to activate coverage through registration. *A Walk for Peace by several Buddhist monks is moving through Georgia. The destination? Washington, D.C. The trek started in Ft. Worth, Texas, and will stop for the night tonight in Decatur. Their journey through the rest of Georgia will take them along state and county roads parallel to I-85, through Elberton, and into South Carolina.
